Noora Andell | Guest Speaker |
Our Guest Speaker today was our very own Noora Andell, our newly arrived exchange student from Finland, who barely off the plane, presented a highly polished presentation on Finland and her home. Noora is presently being hosted by Jo and Den Clark, whose son Matt went to South Africa sponsored by our club. Noora comes from Kaarina in the South West of Finland form the village of Littoinen. It is not far from Turku, the old capital of Finland, and two hours from Helsinki, the present capital. As for hobbies, Noora loves Tennis. Having played since age five she has made a lot of friends through tennis (many of whom have gone on exchange as well), and has already had a hit at Kim Stokes’ Mt Tarcoola club! She loves skiing in Winter and Sailing in Summer. (What a fabulous Summer House!!) Noora attends Luostarinvuori High School and will still have two years to complete when she returns, hoping to study economics in the future.
Noora and Pres. Laurie exchange banners |
Luostarinvuori High School Noora showed us heaps of beautiful pictures of Finland, outlined some of its history, festivals (especially midsummer and Christmas) and a few things it is famous for, including Nokia and Santa Claus! Thanked by Kevin Watson, Jo got the glass! After the presentation, President Laurie and Noora exchanged Rotary Club banners.
