Lift the Lid Hat Day for Mental Health

Hat Day for Mental Health

The tough souls braved the cold and ventured out to the foreshore early on Saturday morning to highlight mental health awareness through an early Hat Day! Supported by the three Geraldton Rotary Clubs and various agencies that support mental health, there was a colourful display of hats and stalls! An excellent “cardiac arrest” breakfast of toast, eggs bacon and sausage was cooked by the blokes from Men’s Shed.

Our very own “Thin Woody” presented three excellent speakers, with local artist Phil Doncon painting away in the background to music! The finished paintings were silently auctioned off, with this and other funds raised from the event going to Australian Rotary Health. Well done guys! Thanks to all helpers and sponsors and the volunteers who helped set up and take down the tents, displays, tables and chairs! (Not sure about Grant’s comment on the huge cake made by Greenough Prison not hiding any “flat bastards”! Metal workers will understand he was talking about coarse metal files!! Boom boom!)
