Rotary Corner: Rotary Health and a Probus update!

ROTARY CORNER: despite a reduction in time allocated VIKI FENNELL made her mark in a brief address highlighting the importance of the work ROTARY HEALTH does in the Community. Vikki also drew our attention to the challenges faced by many of our friends in Kalbarri/Northampton. Many people struggling with Mental Health issues whilst waiting for some work to start on their property.

Jo-Jo the happy winner!

BILL FRAZER gave an annual update on the Life and Times of our Geraldton Probus Club. Our  Probus Club, because as most members may remember, it was the Geraldton Rotary and Geraldton-Greenough Rotary clubs who just a few years ago co-sponsored the creation of Geraldton Probus Club.  And to those doubters one might say, “Together we can do great things”! In March of last year Probus Geraldton embarked on a journey of Club renewal.   With 19 members  we identified three things that would help us do this.

1. Have fun in what we do!

Probus adventure last year

Bill is passionate on Probus!

2. Stay connected with each other. Treat every Club member as an important player and part of Team Geraldton Probus.

3. Put the A back in active!

We started to achieve objectives by taking a flight over Geraldton to celebrate Probus day. (Thanks Shine!)   We continued our post meeting lunches to most of our Geraldton pubs and cafes to support them during the Covid business downturn. Embraced our connection with our State Probus members through Probus West Australia.  We use this connection to promote Midwest events.  Just recently sent a detailed update to State members on the Mullewa preparation for the Wildflowers.    Last August we organized a 4WD trip to Murchison Settlement.    Next week our Outback wanderings will travel the Outback to Murchison, Gascoyne Junction, Mt. Augustus and then to Landor and Meekatharra. A good year when our membership has grown from 19 to 35.
